While plans can vary from provider to provider, most tend to follow this structure:
Preventive treatments (checkups, cleanings, fluoride treatments, X-rays) are covered 80-100%
Restorative treatments (fillings, crowns, bridges, dentures) are covered 50-70%
Cosmetic treatments (whitening, veneers, bonding) are elective procedures and NOT covered
So, while dental insurance can be a big help if you develop a cavity or break a tooth, if you’re hoping to save as much as possible, all you need to do is keep up with your two recommended checkups and cleanings each year. This will lead to better oral health over time as well!
